Spiritual/Experiential Therapy in Addiction Recovery

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
and the courage to change the things I can....

Courage to Change Ranch is a faith based program. All spiritual paths are welcome.

Courage to Change Addiction Recovery Ranch is unique from other programs. We are never are phased by anyone's limitations.

C2C is NOT a "treatment" program, but a "recovery" program and we welcome all who have the courage to walk that path.

Recovery is about accepting one's limitations and being in a safe enough place to explore new perspectives on life.

While C2C offers cutting edge neuroceutical therapy, we do not rely on bread alone for sustenance.

And while our classes are soundly based on advanced cognitive behavioral therapies, we do not remain huddled in the classroom. Our "classroom" here, after all, is the great outdoors, and the real teachers are the Earth and her winged and four-legged...and sometimes under this star-filled sky, the Universe itself.

A Talking Circle is held twice a week. During the summer months the circle is held outdoors around the Fire Pit. Talking Circle participants share their stories of progress - their disappointments, successes and goals for maintaining a sustainable recovery - and then enter the lodge to sing and to pray.

Participation in the sweat lodge ceremony is voluntary and everyone is monitored. The ranch holds Sweat Lodge twice a month guided by a Lakota Sioux in recovery.

Past clients and their families are welcome to join in the ceremony. Afterward participants join in a feast celebrating and sharing the communal experience of the ceremony.

C2C clients may attend a nearby church for Sunday services. Once a month there is a potluck so that clients can begin to relearn how to become a part of community. Four nights out of the week clients attend AA/NA meetings in the local area.

During the summer months clients take day trips to the local Paint Mines and other geographic areas in order to re-commune with their natural settings. Weekends are spent at local rodeos and fairs so that clients can re-learn how to have fun while sober.
For true and lasting recovery to occur, the Whole Person needs to be treated - particularly within the context of their environment.

Work and play and meditation have a purpose here beyond their own ends. And that is to re-train the body and brain to function together in the world in a sober and respectful way.
